Morocco

Erg Chebbi - April 24th and 25th

We made it to the edge of the Sahara. The sand dunes are a beautiful orange color. There are camels everywhere hauling tourists out to overnight camps. We decided to skip the camels and Berber tents. Instead we took a 4 wheel tour around Erg Chebbi, the large dune area. It was a good day trip.

We camped at Auberge Haven La Chance located on the edge of the dunes. This is off season so there were only 4 other vehicles in the campground.

The restaurant was closed.

The pool was popular in the afternoon heat.

The sun setting into the sandy haze.

 Evening in the dunes.

Early morning view from our camping spot.
The guide service we used for our 4 wheel tour. We really enjoyed Hassan the owner of the company.
Our 4 wheel tour vehicle, Yusuf our guide, and Hassan.

We saw, drove over, and thru lots of sand dunes.

There were lots of camels.

 An occasional tree.

 We found lots of fossils.

Rug weaving in a nomad camp.
We had lunch in a nomad camp. Salad and nomad pizza - goat meat, onions, and spices stuffed in nomad bread. It was very good.
