Bosnia

Bosnia

I am glad we visited Bosnia now. It is a poor country showing its past of communism and more recently war, but it also has signs of recovery. This time of year the rugged countryside is green with wild flowers blooming everywhere. It is beautiful. The people are friendly. We really enjoyed it.

Mostar

Mostar is famous for its old stone bridge over the Neretva River.

Old town streets are lined with tourist shops.

We visited the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque.

And climbed up to the top of the minaret.

Views of the bridge.

The bridge was packed with tourists.

Sarajevo

Sarajevo is wonderful. It is a city with a mix of war damage and rebuilding, of very old, very new, and lots of graffiti.

Views of the city.

2 of the many bridges over the Miljacka River.

Signs of war - bullet holes cover buildings in Sniper Alley.
The Sarajevo Rose - a mortar shell scar are on the streets and buildings.
Graffiti is everywhere.
