Slovakia

Slovakia

Our two nights in Slovakia were spent in a ski area parking lot. We arrived late in a rain storm. The forecast was for more rain for the next few days. We hoped for some clear weather. The next morning at 6:00 AM the mountain was clear. We bought tram tickets to the top. (The highest peak in the photo. It is surrounded by clouds.)

The first tram opened at 8:30, the second at 9:00, and we were scheduled to board the third at 9:20. This is nearing the top of the third tram.

You start at 850 meters and the top is 2634 meters. You feel like your on top of the world.

The top is a very narrow ridge.

There are rock faces in every direction.

Thank goodness the viewing platforms have railings.

The views were fabulous even though the clouds were moving in.

We hiked down form the top of the second tram, about 900 meters of very steep trail. My legs were sore by the time we got to the van.

Trail marker.

Mountain hut along the trail.

The rain held off until dinner time, then it poured. Thank goodness we had dinner in a carriage.

Next morning we said good bye to our camping spot and headed for Poland.
